In some areas of Santiago: yes, it is.

In most of the areas I’ve tried to live: no, it is not.

In these areas the internet was absolute junk, horse manure: Puerto Plata, Sosua, Santo Domingo, San Francisco de Macoris, and Hato Mayor del Rey. I have stayed in probably 20-30 different hotels and airbnbs in these cities and it has always been awful.

To put it bluntly, if you want to do it I recommend Santiago. And try to live in the wealthy neighborhoods. In the “La Trinitaria” area you can get reliable fibre optic to your home. Your landlord or Airbnb host may already have it installed.

During 10 months of 2021 I had very, very few problems with zoom calls and microsoft Teams meetings while living in a nice neighborhood of Santiago.
