I’ve found a place in Santiago that has blazing fast, large-American-city style good internet! I’m reluctant to tell you where it is exactly, because I don’t want the demand for my particular studio to go up in price. However, I will let you know the general vicinity, and the other areas in Santiago where it is possible:

The ANSWER: La Trinitaria and the area in the map I have highlighted below. You will general be able to get FIBRE OPTIC cable directly to your building or house in these areas:

There is a link that Claro provides where you can check if your neighborhood has fibre optic service. It is just below. However, I have also listed out where you SUPPOSEDLY can get fibre optic cable directly to your home/building in Santiago, however I don’t believe it till I see it.

Here is the Claro website link. (you will need to scroll down the page to Santiago)

Santiago de los Caballeros

Why is the area outlined in the red box in my picture good for internet?

I know there are other little sectors within Santiago with comparable service. However, this is where I live and know the area pretty well. As an added bonus, we almost never lose electrical power. And when it does go out it is rarely for more than 15 MINUTES!!! Yes, if you’re a seasoned Dominican Republic expat your jaw will drop. But I have 10 months of experience living in this area, and it’s the facts jack.
